Rick and I attended the XVI International AIDS Conference last month in Toronto. While we were there, we had several opportunities to share with local, national, and international media what God is teaching us about HIV/AIDS. What exactly is God teaching us, you may be wondering.
We're learning that we don't have to agree with everyone before we decide to work with them in fighting this illness. We continue to learn that it's not a sin to be sick - how someone contracted HIV is not the test of whether we need to care or not. But most of all, we're constantly reminded that the Church is key in stopping HIV.
In this edition of the HIV/AIDS Caring Community, we'll share some stories we learned while in Toronto. We'll also offer a Christian perspective on a very secular event. However, we offer more than just information in this edition; we offer a call to action. There is no greater purpose than investing your life in the well-being of others (spiritually, physically, emotionally). That's what HIV/AIDS ministry is all about - sharing with all infected or affected by the disease the love and hope Christ so freely gives us.
