John Forbes

John Forbes
John Forbes has been living with HIV since 1995. He is an international speaker/evangelist who has 23 years of experience in the theater. His artistic pursuits were interrupted in 2001 by his AIDS diagnosis, which God used to radically turn his life around and bring him back from a place of wandering. Forbes has spoken to thousands of people worldwide about what God has done in his life and has a strong burden for the Church to respond compassionately to those with HIV/AIDS.

Father God, I thank you so much for the opportunity to experience your grace. Your mercy and grace that has pulled me from a life of destruction and given me an opportunity to know you as my Father who heals, restores, strengthens, and equips.

Lord God, I thank you that you’ve called us to partner with you, Lord, to share that news with the world. God, I just want to pray for every single person who is struggling with HIV/AIDS now, who is living up under condemnation in their lives, Lord. I pray that there will be believers who will be released in and around them to be expressions of your grace and mercy toward them.

I pray that you will draw them into fellowship with the Body of Christ. I pray that you would release your children, Lord, at a greater capacity to accurately reflect your Father-heart, your merciful heart, Lord God. You are gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. You don’t treat us as our sins deserve.

I pray that you would continue to give believers around the globe to reach out in your name, Lord. I pray God that you would remove stigma – any judgmental spirit would be broken and the full measure and full capacity of your love would be released through your Body.

I pray that you would release resources to equip the members of your Kingdom to do the work for those who are struggling with HIV/AIDS around the world. And Lord, I pray that the Church, especially in North America, would get a global vision of the countless individuals, nearly 40 million people living with AIDS, that the Church in North America would be able to see that we are our brother’s keeper. That those who are suffering with HIV/AIDS in India and China and Russia, Lord, it is our responsibility. I pray that you would release your Church all over the world to show up and to represent who you really are.

I thank you for the privilege of being able to know you and to serve you. I thank you for the ministry at Saddleback Church, and I pray that you would continue to use these resources and every other possible tool that we can lay at your feet in order to further your Kingdom and to bless your creation, Lord God.

I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus,

Amen

Pastor Martin and Tracey Ssempa
Martin and Tracey Ssempa are the pioneers of Makerere Community Church, a faith-based organization specifically working in AIDS prevention with university students. Since 1988, the Ssempa’s have effectively used community drama, school rallies, radio, and television as means of communicating behavioral change to youth in Uganda. They run a youth drop-in center called “The White House" and a weekly campus rally – "PrimeTime@ the Pool" – serving more than 4,000 college students every week. Hear prayer >>

Peter Styffe
Peter Styffe is a 19-year-old freshman at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., who cares about people with HIV. He has traveled to Malawi, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Thailand, and Cambodia sharing with youth that HIV prevention begins with admitting a need for Jesus Christ and the support of others in the church. He believes youth are a great force in HIV prevention and in caring for those with HIV around the world. Hear prayer >>

Kay Warren
Kay Warren
In 2002, Kay Warren became seriously disturbed by the millions worldwide suffering with HIV/AIDS. Today, she is a powerful advocate on their behalf as she challenges Christians everywhere to bring relief in Jesus’ name to those in pain, sorrow, poverty, and illness. This Web site is the result of Kay’s passion for equipping the Church to minister to individuals who are HIV positive. She offers this prayer for all pastors and church leaders. Hear prayer >>
