Peter Styffe

Peter Styffe
Peter Styffe is a 19-year-old freshman at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., who cares about people with HIV. He has traveled to Malawi, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Thailand, and Cambodia sharing with youth that HIV prevention begins with admitting a need for Jesus Christ and the support of others in the church. He believes youth are a great force in HIV prevention and in caring for those with HIV around the world.

Lord, you are the one we trust for everything. You are our Creator and great God. You know that HIV is killing youth today. And you care. Thank you. Thank you that you have a plan to save us and prevent HIV. We need your help today, Father. You are our only hope. We need you to help to stop this disease among the youth.

I pray for the teenagers all over the world. That more people would come to know you. I pray that even when they don’t know you that they will be protected against the schemes of the evil one to ruin our lives through impurity and bad choices. I pray that you’ll help us make wise choices as we have a relationship with you and your church.

Just as the disease of HIV and AIDS is killing more young people than any other disease in history, I pray that more youth would come to hear the message that your plan for sex is good and that we would seek you and find you.

I pray that right now you will help churches everywhere to be bold and honest about speaking with youth about HIV and sex and your great plan for their lives. Lord, help us stand up and be counted as being pure, and abstinent, and obedient to you. Lord, help us to follow your ways. And help us to do that not through our own strength, but by using all of your resources you have given us: the power of your Holy Spirit, the accountability and support, and love from the Church.

I pray that people all over the world will see that your ways of sexual purity are the best ways for us. I pray that you will allow governments all over the world to see the truth, promote abstinence in their programs. That they will look to you and the church for HIV and the solutions to it.

I’m asking you, my Savior, to show me and all my friends how to make a difference in preventing HIV and also in caring for those that do. Continue to use youth all over the world to glorify your name.

I pray for teenagers and even kids all over the world right now, Father, who are being forced to have sexual relationships through trafficking and prostitution. Stop the hand of the evil one in Jesus’ name. Free them. Stop the perpetrators and evil. And continue to teach us what we can do and must do.

Lastly, Father, I pray for the youth in HIV today. Put your healing hand on them, draw them to yourself. And help them find hope, support, and healing through the Church and through you. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Kay Warren
In 2002, Kay Warren became seriously disturbed by the millions worldwide suffering with HIV/AIDS. Today, she is a powerful advocate on their behalf as she challenges Christians everywhere to bring relief in Jesus’ name to those in pain, sorrow, poverty, and illness. This Web site is the result of Kay’s passion for equipping the Church to minister to individuals who are HIV positive. She offers this prayer for all pastors and church leaders. Hear prayer >>
