Why it's a race against time: Orphans and vulnerable children

Photo by Allison Cox/Saddleback Church | You have probably seen the news about Madonna's recent adoption of a 13-month-old little boy from Malawi. Many individuals laud her care and support for this baby, others have questioned if it is in the child's best interest to be taken away from his father and his culture.
These are difficult issues. What is best?
There are more than 15 million AIDS orphans in Africa alone. How are we, as the Church, to deal with this? Every child matters to God; it is time for the Church to get connected with God’s heart for children. Advocating for orphans and vulnerable children will require every bit of compassion, tenacity, and urgency we can muster.
This year's Global Summit on AIDS and the Church will offer practical ways your church can get involved in the care of orphans and vulnerable children. Ministry leaders Wess Stafford with Compassion International, Bishop Charles E. Blake with Save Africa's Children, Dennis Rainey with FamilyLife's Hope for Orphans, and others, will provide you and your church with best practices for getting involved. Please join us today in the race against time for God's most beautiful blessing: the children he entrusts to our care.
